DISABILITY: PROBLEMS OF OVERCOMING STIGMATIZATION AND FORMATION OF TOLERANT CONSCIOUSNESS

Health restrictions, the strongly pronounced physical deviations and the corresponding social status create certain social stereotypes of surrounding society about “lameness” and “inferiority”. It is accepted to connect formation of similar stereotypes with restrictions in an information field and absence of education of society concerning disability. The negative consequences of a stigmatization connected with discrimination, social isolation and alienation, affect both the object of a stigmatization, and on society as a whole, on a straight line disturbing formation of tolerant consciousness in relation to persons with limited possibilities of health, disturbing implementation of their social rehabilitation. The problem of a stigmatization is closely connected with tolerance problems. Recently are taken steps for the purpose of overcoming of negative attitude, but they can’t change a situation in the near future. The disability problem in a broad sense is a problem of civil society which by means of the institutes influences world outlooks of separately taken people.
