The article written on family sociology is devoted to the actual in terms of theoretical and empirical studies question of the age asymmetry of partners in the structure of family relations. We analyze the results of the sociological research by questionnaire. The research focuses on the study of problems nodes associated with asymmetrical marriage. An important stage of our study was to clarify the respondents’ age on the distance between the marriage partners, the reasons for entering into an asymmetric age marriage. In modern society, the persistent gender stereotypes of “social maturity” and “appropriate behavior” as well as the practice of marriage in the form of regulations, increase or decrease the distance for certain age-tion of social groups related to age, health, occupation. Gender analysis suggests the dominance of patriarchal schemes in the social perception of asymmetric marriages. More positively evaluated “He-model” emphasizes the high degree of security of women in the marriage and the presence of plastic and stable relationship. The negative characteristics are focused primarily on “She-model,” with the asymmetry in the age of the female. Such marriages are characterized as not stable, predicted problems with childbirth and upbringing.
